It’s all about balance

White Balance, that is.

It is so cold outside that sheets of ice crystals are forming on our windows! 

The patterns are pretty darn cool, especially when backlit by the sun, however, when photographed using Auto or even a Daylight white balance setting, all sense of  coolness is completely lost.

Hmmmm, what to do?

No worries grasshopper… this one is easy.   

Switch to Incandescent white balance and boom!

Instant feeling of brrrrrr.

Hey, at least I am honest!

On the fourth day of Christmas…

…I decided this train of thought was a really bad idea. 

So, enough of that.  

Went out early this morning desperately seeking some color. For awhile, there was just nothingness but shades of gray, brown and white all blending together as one blah mess. Then I heard a series of bird calls and sought out what bird was making them. 

To my surprise, a threesome of robins were scattered high amongst the branches of a leafless tree, their red breasts standing out against the pallor of the overcast winter sky.
