One of the most prominent structures at Epcot’s World Showcase Lagoon is the bright red Torii gate which welcomes visitors to the Japan pavilion. The Epcot version is based upon the Torii Gate found in the Hiroshima Bay at Itsukushima.

Hmmm, seems the seagulls like the gate as much as I do!

What a striking structure! And the colour definiately grabs the attention (perfect for advertising the entrance to the Pavillion)I like the composition and contrast too
Thank you Birgitte! Yes, and to see it in person is stunning. All that I am showing here is the very top which sits upon a set of columns. To see it out in the lagoon is very impressive!
Ah, Epcot. So much to see and do and to photograph. Looks like the rain has moved on.
Yes and so many reasons to return again and again. Yes, one very overcast day ending with a pretty nasty rainstorm but all was good the next afternoon. Fairy chilly though!
I have lived in Iwakuni, Japan and been to Itsukushima island in Japan. This takes me back to that time. Japan is one of my favorite countries that I have ever visited or lived in.
Wow, Brian – lucky you! I am glad I was able to bring you back to that happy time (even if just for a moment!)
