  1. So cute – I love how they pose for you :)

    • Isn’t that a riot?? I swear the males act very differently than the females!! Thanks, Melanie! :-)

  2. Okay…time to come clean about your trained squirrels and birds. ;)

Looks like they workout daily to me. The first one has better tone and color. Call him Arnold.

    • Ha! The only workout these guys get is stuffing peanuts into their mouths! ;-)

I LOVE the lighting and coloring in the first image. Just speaks to how important that is! I called him Adonis because of his awsome physique that he seems to be quite pleased to show off!

I do, however, crack up at the ‘muscle tone’ and posture of the second one! Doesn’t it really look like he’s flexing?? Too funny!

      Thanks, Scott! :-)

  3. Hmmm…. well now I’m paying attention to the red fur on these grays! I saw my little guy this morning on a fence post, but it dashed away before I could take its picture. I’ll keep trying!

  4. Too cute!! How about a critter beefcake calendar? ;-)

    • Thanks, Michaela! If these guys keep posing like this, you could be on to something! Maybe I should lay out a bear-skin rug next to a really small fireplace… ;-)

  5. Maybe they know our governor. Perhaps they could even bring him home with them. I’m not sure how you always manage to catch your woodland friends in such positons, but it is pretty cool.

    • lol! More likely they’re fans of ‘Hanz and Franz’!

This is what happens when you are out trying to capture the cardinal! ;-) I’m finding squirrels will do just about anything for peanuts. (Pretty fair trade, huh?) Thanks, Sean! I thought you might enjoy these! :-)

  6. I’d go more for cute rather than beefcake, but whatever you like?

    • Ha! Thanks, Lynn!

(I think the full frontal nudity of the first image more than qualifies these guys as beefcake! Well, at least to the female squirrels! ;-) )

  7. What a handsome squirrel…a day for Adonis photos! I really, really like the first shot.

  8. I love how suspicious and smart he looks.
“You! You over there… you… you taking pictures of me?”, said the squirrel in Robert DeNiro’s voice.

  9. Hans und Franz! No girlie-man squirrels in your yard! Hear me now, believe me later…!

    • Yay! Someone got the reference!!! (IMHO…one of the funniest SNL skits!)

      Thanks, Chris! :D

  10. What a great shot, yes I remember the Hans and Franz skit…we want to pump you up.

  11. I´ve used the brand new “I like this” button, – have you seen this? Your cute critters have grown bigger very fast, I think.

    • Hmmm, no I have not seen such a button – it doesn’t show up in the posts for me. I wonder what it is for??

Thanks, Birgitte! Well, the grey squirrels are big to begin with (when compared to the tiny Red Squirrels) but, ours are unusually large as they are very, very well fed. Ooops! ;-)

      • The “like” button is at the top of the page, beside “blog info”. It is only to be seen when one click at the post, to write a comment. I guess it is for the busy people, who don´t have time to write a comment, or just like but not necessarily have something to say.

      • I see no “I like” button.
But I like your images of these small critters.
Perhaps I could make our red squirrels pose for me. Maybe I’m just nuts :-)

      • Thank you, Carsten!

You are on the right track as it takes NUTS to get them to pose like this!! :D

  12. speaking of nuts, the adonis isn’t very bashful, is he? i think you need to add a NSFW disclaimer, cause you’re gonna get me in trouble here.

i really like the first shot, with the leaves framing his perfect pose.

    • LOL! Trust me, NONE of the male squirrels are bashful. This one is less-endowed than most. We have one we have affectionately nicknamed “Big Balls” ‘cuz, well, yeah, for exactly what you think! :D

What?? A little squirrel nudity is fine…besides, if I were to get in trouble I know a lawyer looking for work… ;-)

      Thanks, Stephen!

  13. Oh he is mighty fine. hehe

    • Isn’t he? Now I can understand why we have all these baby grey squirrels this spring….the female greys just couldn’t resist all this buff-ness! :-) Thanks, Amber!

  14. Adonis is sooooo adorable! Love it!

    • Thank you, Jan! He is quite the hunk! (well, for a squirrel, that is… ;-) )
