“My Heart’s on a String” (White Bleeding Heart) Nikon D300, 70mm, F/9, 1/125s, -0.7EV, ISO 200

This afternoon, I held the first advanced digital photography class here at the studio! Tonight’s topic? Why, flowers, of course! 🙂

All kidding aside, flowers are a great place to start – they don’t move, they don’t get impatient and they don’t have any concerns about looking “stupid” or “weird” or “wrinkly” or “fat”. And, you can take as long as you like to get that perfect image.

Today’s shot actually came quite easily. Backlit by the sun as it dropped in the sky, the heart-shaped blossoms seem to “glow”.   A bonus is the curly stem from which they hang – very unusual for this plant and a detail that, for me, just plainly puts it over the edge.

Now, how could I resist?

  2. Tracy,
You are amazing! What an imaginative and fun idea to take photos everyday and post for us to see. It’s obvious who the most creative and talented one in our family is! I’ll be checking daily 🙂
    Love you,
    Lori

  3. Spectacular! Thanks for doing such a nice job on my note cards. I think they came out great. 🙂
