Got up and out early this morning as I knew it would be my best (and probably, only) opportunity for sunshine. While walking out back to fill the feeders, I saw that the roses have begun to bloom.

My “rose garden” is quite small – just 6 varieties in a 3’x5′ bed. All were selected specifically for their color, overall plant size and scent. If I was going to bother to grow roses, they’d better be both beautiful and fragrant!

This lovely gal is ‘Tamora’ – an English Rose in soft shades of peach, apricot and honey-gold. Her fragrance is heavenly.

She was leaning into this one small patch of sunlight as if to say, “Pick me!”

It worked! 🙂
