  1. Wow! I love this shot — never seen the moon look so spherical before! Almost 3-D!

    Happy NEw Year

    • Hey, thanks Christine!

Made dragging out my HUGE lens in the (very) cold night and crouching at the edge of my neighbor’s driveway (only unobstructed view of the moon), looking (I’m sure) like a lunatic well worth it!

  2. best moon shot i have seen in a long time. BRAVO!!!

  3. This isn’t just any picture of the moon but a picture of a “Blue Moon” and you captured it perfectly.

Rose and I wish you and Jim a Happy New Year.

    – From the internet.
“A full moon occurs every 29.5 days, and most years have 12. On average, an extra full moon in a month β€” a blue moon β€” occurs every 2.5 years. The last time there was a lunar double take was in May 2007. New Year’s Eve blue moons are rarer, occurring every 19 years. The last time was in 1990; the next one won’t come again until 2028.”

  4. Thanks so much, Pat! πŸ™‚

Wow, Ray, I didn’t know that!

Funny – I wasn’t crazy about my original image name (Full Moon Haze) and with this new information, now I just HAVE to change it!

“Once in a Blue Moon” is so much better, dontchathink?

Happy and Healthy New Year to you, too!

  5. Holy Moly, that’s absolutely amazing! I need to get me a D300s. πŸ™‚

    Nice work, Tracy.

    • Thanks much, Dave! You gave me a big GRIN today! (aren’t we photogs needy folks??)

Sadly, I think it might be less about the D300 and more about that sweet 600mm lens! But, I have to admit, I have been LOVING the D300!!!!

  6. This is superb shot!
