We may have started out with snow this morning, but boy-oh-boy when the clouds lifted, what a day! 🙂

"Crash Point" (Waves Crashing Against Rocks with Hospital Point Lighthouse) Nikon D300, 32mm, F/16, 1/400s, ISO 400

The Nor’easter may be gone, but we are still feeling the effects! Our churned up seas continue to pound the rocky shoreline of Beverly Harbor, with Hospital Point Lighthouse standing proudly by, as it has since 1872.

I could have watched this all day long…

  1. This reminds me of an old postcard, Tracy. Nicely done. The whole weekend here in Toronto is supposed to be sunny and around +10 C (50 degrees F). Looking forward to getting out and snapping some photos in the nicer weather.

    • Thanks, Dave. What was so great is I was basically alone for most of the time to enjoy the scene – no crowds! As I was shooting a gazillion frames (crouched in a low position such that my feet and lower calves fell asleep), a very enthusiastic Golden Retriever ran right into me, licking the camera and began chewing on my camera strap! S/he, of course, was followed by very apologetic human parents. I missed a really great wave during that exchange and then the camera smelled like dog breath but whattaya gonna do? 😀

      • Sounds like fun. We have an off-leash dog park in the beaches and boy it doesn’t take long to be accosted by a happy dog or two looking for a new best friend. Unfortunately they often smell like the lake, since they tend to like the water. 🙂

  2. That’s beautiful. I would like to spend some quiet moments there listening to the monologue of wind and water. 🙂
    Have a nice day.

    • Thank you! So glad you stopped by. Not sure how quiet it would be (the surf noise is quite deafening), but I completely understand. The tides are hypnotic, powerful and soothing all at the same time. It is a privelage to live close to the shore. Take care! 🙂

  3. You found your color! Who says you don’t pre-visualize. 😉 It’s beautiful here today (finally) Going out later this afternoon for magic hour.

    • Ha! Yes, I suppose I did and do! 🙂 Good luck finding the magic, Scott!

  4. Blue skies!! You caught that wave perfectly. I like that you included the lighthouse in the background.

    • YES! And no one is happier than me!! 🙂 It took alot of tries to catch that perfect wave!
