I tend to take a lot of images on black backgrounds so I thought a change of pace would be refreshing. Afterall, spring is just around the corner – hooray! 🙂

The sunshine was pouring through the front window, lighting up a pot of Gerbera daisies sitting on the sill. Since the blossom is top lit and I was shooting from below, a slight pop of flash was necessary to bring out the texture and details. A little dodging and burning in post was all she needed.

Enjoy! 🙂

  1. Again, nice lighting. The pastel colors really feel like Spring.

    • Thanks, Scott! Sooooooo needed a “springlike” photo today! Hard to believe the difference a week makes. It is SUNNY and about 65 degrees out! We have a little wind, but boy-o-boy is it ever sweet out! Just got back from two AMAZING playgrounds with old and or/interesting equipment. Good day so far! 🙂

  2. It looks downright like summer to me – yay!

    • Sssshhhhhh, ixnay on the ummersay else Mother Nature HEAR you and take it all away! 😉

      [(quietly) me, too.]

  3. Oh my goodness, this is really beautiful. Love the lighting… kind of unusual for the bottom of a flower to be this well lit, but that’s why I like it.

  4. just happened by your blog. dont have time to stay and peruse, but i appreciate that, from what i saw on the first page, your 365 project hasn’t made you resort to obvious and uninteresting photos. the textures in this one contrast almost impossibly. very cool. i’ll be back!

    • Why, thank you! So glad to ‘see’ a new face! 🙂 I do try really hard to keep it interesting, but if you happen to make your way back through all previous 10 months, there is more than likely a few ‘obvious and uninteresting’ photos! Ha! FYI – I checked out your blog, Stephen – wow, 40 days in China! Only read the first two posts and already, you are on an adventure! Will be back to read more…

  5. This is so bright and cheery it just makes me smile 🙂 Has the rain finally stopped?

    • Me, too! 🙂 Yes, thankfully, the rain ended sometime overnight Monday and we woke up Tuesday to sunshine – yay! It has been sunnier and unseasonably warm. Great times to be outside! I’ve been spending most days visiting the local playgrounds getting good shots for the Playground Series. I have to act fast as some parks are losing their equipment! It is also easier now than when the parks are full of kids and I’m also trying to keep the tones the same and will lose that once the grass greens. Aren’t you glad you asked? 🙂

  6. Lovely, lovely and yet again lovely!

  7. Oooooooooooooo preeeeeeeeeeeetty. 🙂

  8. As soft and delicate as a watercolor ! beautiful shot and angle.

    • You are very kind, Isa. Thank you.

(Would you believe this is the same pot of gerbera’s as ‘Let the Sunshine In’ ? Completely different time of day with different lighting conditions and camera settings yielding very different results!)

  9. Unusual perspective, very lovely. Well done image for sure!
