  1. Oooh fire indeed. Love those powdery stamens. Such beautiful color 🙂 Happy Friday!!!

    • Thank you, Amber! It WAS a Happy Friday and I’m looking forward to a delightful Saturday! 🙂

  2. love this. they DO look like roman candles!

  3. Beautiful color!

You have a wonderful weekend too!

  4. Wow, love this photo, colors are awesome. 🙂

    • In my book, you just cannot beat those fire-y oranges, yellows and reds! Thank you, Consuelo! 🙂

  5. Ooohh, VERY nice! Love your DOF here, and great focus as always.
Is your pool ready to go and warm enough?

    • Thanks, Michaela! Extension tubes are so much fun!!

      Weellllll, almost. 😉

The temp is good (LOVE that heater!) but, in the vein of ‘not seeing the forest for the trees’, we neglected to look at the filter grids until this morning (after wondering why the pool water was looking a bit cloudy and greenish) and they were DISGUSTING! Not happy, especially when I mentioned them yesterday and sort of was brushed off (if you know what I mean). So, they are soaking.

Jim took a water sample to the pool store to be tested and our numbers are good except for some minerals. We have a bunch of chemcals to add once the filter is all back together. Still, it should be an EXCELLENT pool weekend! 🙂

  6. Wow your daylilies are out??? I know we’ve been talking about how early everything is this year, but dang! Mine don’t even have buds yet. Another gorgeous outdoor close-up!

I’m all for summer weather, but I wish 90 degrees could have waited one more day. The girls and I have dance recital tonight and the gymnasium we use as “backstage” gets really hot. Makes for very sticky costume changes! 😉

    • I know! VERY early for daylilies. I usually don’t see these until late June, early July. I hope they last a long time! I do have some varieties that bloom later but right now, the common ones are popping (a few blooms daily) along with the Stella D’oro yellow ones.

Yeah, these temps are a bit extreme (we jumped from 58 degrees to over 80 degrees in less thatn 24 hours?? C’mon!) Ugh. The best advice I can give you is to bring a small box fan with you and set it up backstage so the costume changes can happen right in front of it. Good luck with the recital!

      Thanks, Karma! 🙂

  7. Really stunning close up – fabulous color.

  8. What a great shot and lovely colour – I wish you a nice weekend – and summer. Here the weather is very changeable – between rain and chilly – and sun and pleasant 🙂

  9. Lovely! And some of my favorite colors. I hope you did get a warm week-end. 🙂

    • Thank you, Birgitte! 🙂

So far, we’ve had an amazing weekend! Yesterday is what I would describe as a ‘picture-perfect’ summer day. Warm sunshine, blue skies, crystal clear water, friends over, good music, fun conversation, warm fire at night and ice cream sundaes under the stars! Who could ask for more? 🙂

      • What did you say your state was called…paradise? I´ll pack my suitcase…

  10. Tracy, you can have the heat, I don’t want it.

    • Ha! I guess the heat is easier to take when one has a ‘cement pond’ in which to get relief! 🙂

  11. looking up the voluminous dress of a dainty, six-legged balerina? ever since your previous stamen-as-ballet-slippers post, that all i can see. awwwwesome color.

  12. hmmm…i suppose i could be mistaken. but i remember it being on your blog. maybe it was a link included in someone else’s comment?

no matter. this color is rad. (if there were something in this photo that was bright blue [maybe the powdery underside of the “ballet slippers”?] i think i would just explode with visual stimulation. i LOVE these orange tones with blue.)
