The top of this weathered tree stump has an amazing texture, especially when amplified by the light of the low setting sun. With its deep concentric circles, it sort of looks like a sundial.

And if I’m reading it correctly, it is quittin’ time. Adiós, amigos! 😀

I’ve been having a very hard time of late, something akin to “writer’s block.”  I go out and shoot for hours in this cold, wet weather and yet, come back with very little to show for it. Oh, I take lots of pictures, mind you, but when I load them up onto the computer, I am, let’s say, less than enthused?

What my heart is missing are the flowers. From the perennials in the garden to the unknown varieties growing wild in the woods, I miss them all. And I miss what comes with them – butterflies, bees, birds, moths, crickets, etc. In the warmer months, they are all around me, feeding my passion to the point where my heart is racing and I can’t photograph fast enough!

Sigh. I long for those days.

Today, again, I spent hours in the snowy woods, photographing what appeared at the time to be interesting forms – from downed trees, to peeling bark, to stumps, to lichens, to shadows, etc. May have been some other photog’s dream but for me? Eh. I just don’t get it.

Perhaps I am trying to hard, expecting too much. I know inspiration will return, it always does. Let’s hope for tomorrow!

Another lovely capture of the inlet at Dane Street Beach, yet with a decidedly different feeling from the previous image.

I’m actually not certain why I like this shot. I just do and that’s all it takes! 🙂

It began snowing last night at 10:00 pm and hasn’t stopped! It’s the light, dusting kind, coating everything from top to bottom in a layer of white.

Just after noon-time, we took a ride over to Dane Street Beach to check out the high tide, thinking the crashing waves in the storm would make a great photograph.

The waves were impressive, but what caught my eye most were the snow-covered trees at the far end of the beach. So off I went, trekking along the sand and over the snow-covered rocks, my tripod and camera in tow.

I’ve always been a fan of Ansel Adams’ work and somehow, I think he’d be very proud of this shot!
