I need a hug


Each weekday around this time, my husband walks through the door after a long day of work, finds me and gives me a great big hug. I ask how his day went and he replies, ‘It just got better.’ Yeah, he’s a keeper! 🙂  

Unfortunately today, I get no hug as he is away on business and will be gone the rest of the week and through the weekend. Sigh.

My Sweet Embraceable You

This fact hit me like a ton of bricks while looking through the lens at this sweet Grape Iris bloom seemingly embracing a smaller bud.  

Damn. That is one lucky bud. 😦

      Not at all! I found it to be particularly endearing myself, and toyed with calling it “Mother and Child” because the large blooms seems to be very protective in that embrace. Dontchathink?

      • That would have been a nice title, too. Kinda reminds me of a mommy & baby penguin a little.

  3. Awww, I’m not your hubby but feel hugged. He’ll be back soon, I promise. Why don’t you come up with a schedule of fun? Some things you can do while he’s away, like getting a pedicure or getting to know a new café while reading a book.

  5. Hi Tracy, this is a great shot. It’s amazing how what we photograph kind of represents what we are feeling at the time…in some photos of course, mine usually doesn’t as it’s what is going on behind me that the photograph doesn’t say..lol..anyways, I hope you don’t feel too lonely, he’ll be back sooner than you think and all will be well again. I remember when my husband always had to go away on business, I didn’t like it much either.

    • Hi Consuelo – I couldn’t agree with you more! I often feel like fate has a say in what I shoot on any given day. I find if I am in a horrible mood, I don’t find any inspiration at all but as soon as I let it all go, I find something interesting. I also find that when I am in a happy mood, I just seem to see the beauty all that clearer.

      I know the travel is harder on him than me. I try not to think of him being so very far away but with all the issues with the volcano, I hope he makes it home safe and sound. At least I have Cleo to keep me company! 🙂

  6. Gorgeous iris! You’ve now beaten me to posting both peonies and irises! 😉 I’ve got a couple lovely irises just begging for their pictures to be taken but unfortunately its raining today.

    I hope your hubby-lonely time passes quickly for you. Mine works nights (police officer in Springfield! Yikes!) so I’ve unfortunately gotten used to nights without him. 😦 My girls keep me busy though.

    • Thanks, Karma! THIS is the grape-scented iris I was telling you about! (I did some research and was able to locate its name). So, it smells as good as it looks! 😀

    • So far, trip is going well, but the British Airways strike and that volcano are wreaking havoc on his return flight situation. I do hope I get him back safe and sound next week!

    • Sigh. No, hubby not home yet. Probably not until late Tuesday night. 😦
