  1. That’s true. I hate exercising. HATE IT. Well, I like natural exercise, like going on hikes and stuff….but the equipment stuff? sigh… Our treadmill goes forever unused. Do love the speed you’ve captured here and the selective coloring. Work it girl! πŸ™‚

    • I hear ya, Amber. I HATE exercising! When I get off the elliptical I say the exact same thing to my husband: ‘I still hate that machine’ to which he replies, ‘Yeah, I know.’

In the amount of time it took me to get the setup, composition, motion blur, etc. to the point I liked it, I could have finished a 2 hour workout! This would have been sooooo much easier if I had a model!

Thanks, Amber! The selective coloring just sort of creeped in! πŸ™‚

  2. Good for you! I’ve been doing just AWFUL with my exercise lately, and really need to get back to the gym on a more regular basis. At least I can blame the weather this month… can’t go anywhere on these icy roads, so EVERYONE is home and NOTHING gets done, and when everyone is back at work/school, I don’t have time to go to the gym, because I need to get all the things done, that didn’t get done before… like today! πŸ˜› Maybe next week things will be back to normal again and I can actually have more than just a few minutes to myself and find time to finally chat with you on IM! *crossing fingers*

    • Thanks, M! I hope life settles down for you!

I’ve been doing awful with exercise for a very long time now. Seeing the ‘damage’ in numbers at the doc’s was the kick in the butt I needed. Summer will be here before we know it and I won’t be able to hide the extra pounds and lack of toning under sweaters and coats!

I’m off to do today’s workout! Wish me luck! πŸ™‚

  3. Best wishes Tracy! Motivation can be soooo difficult. I agree with Amber – I really don’t like “traditional” exercise at all. If I didn’t take the dance classes I take, I’m afraid of the blob I might become, LOL!
Love the selective coloring. That’s a technique I’d really like to figure out and try sometime.

    • Thanks, Karma! I need all the encouragement I can get! Just finished up 30+ minutes and I really hate that machine!! πŸ˜‰

This is ‘Day 3’ of my new committment and I know it will take at least 14 days of doing it to get myself set into the routine. I’m hoping to mix things up and go for walks outside as well. That should be easier to do when things warm up for us next week.

Selective coloring on this shot was actually simple to do since the pops of red, blue and yellow were easily distinguishable from a fairly neutral background. Sometimes I paint the color back in from the color layer once I’ve created a b&w layer while other times, I select and copy the color areas I want to keep, bring them forward into top layers then convert the backgroudn layer to b&w. I suppose all this would only make sense if you understand Photoshop! Maybe some time we can get together and I can show you how it is done. πŸ™‚

  4. Nice action shot and I really like your processing. If I don’t get into some kind of exercise routine soon I might be too far gone!

  5. Oy, I need to get back on my treadmill. Great shot and processing! Just keep swimming!

    • There’s still time Scott! I admit, I am sore today…muscles need a break, time to recover.

      Thanks! I will!

  6. Now you’re making me feel guilty!

    • Ha! I can’t believe you all didn’t see this one coming after the food posts! πŸ™‚

  7. right there with ya!! I totally let myself go over the fall and now I’m paying for it….. Keep it up, it sucks in the short term but it’s much better for you in the long run. πŸ˜‰

    • Glad to hear I’m not alone, Derrick! Hey, maybe we can keep each other motivated??

Thanks so much for the encouragement! πŸ™‚

      • Absolutely! Hopefully it will be warm (and dry) enough here that I can go for a bike ride tomorrow! I hope my bike’s tires can support my ginormous mass. πŸ˜‰

      • Oh, a bike ride, or even a WALK for that matter would be so nice! Sadly, we have more inclement weather headed our way so indoor activities all I can hope for, for now. Have a good ride!

  8. I keep trying to make my elliptical my BFF, but we continue to have issues with each other. A visit to the doc, though, often brings us closer to resolving those issues. πŸ˜‰

I like the shot and the way you processed it. Very nice. Almost makes me want to exercise…

    • lol! I stopped long ago trying to make my elliptical my BFF! I don’t think it can ever be my friend otherwise it would feel badly about whipping my butt! πŸ™‚

I just want to get back into toned shaped. If you have any pointers, things that have worked for you to say, get good abs, feel free to advise!

      Thanks, Robin!

      • I have two words for you: Muscle Max.

Having done a Google search for that, maybe I better add a few more words. Cathe Friedrich’s Muscle Max. It’ll kick you butt, but you’ll see definite toning results. If you’re looking for good abs, this one will do that too. The jacknifes (jackknives??) and the rest of the abs section are killer.

      • Thanks, Robin! WOW – she is hardcore! So many DVDs to choose from! I’ll have to go through and figure out which one(s) will fit well with my elliptical workouts. I’m simply looking for something that won’t waste my time. All the reviews are fantastic!

Do they sell these in stores?

  9. Good luck Tracy. IΒ΄m sure you will get in good shape before summer. Why donΒ΄t you spend the time on the treadmill with learning a new language (headphones) or something similar. You could study Danish. πŸ˜‰

    • Thanks for the vote of confidence, Birgitte! I hope so!

Interesting idea! For now, it is all I can manage to just get the workout done. In time, this would be a fantastic addition to the workout! πŸ™‚

  10. I’m not sure if they carry them in stores or not. I bought mine (“Muscle Max”) through Amazon.

The good thing about “Muscle Max” is you can choose which workouts you want to do. Upper body, lower body, or do the whole thing. The only thing I haven’t been able to figure out is how to go right to the abs workout without having for fast forward through the whole thing. It’s not included in the upper or lower body workouts.

    • Good to know. The Ab Curcuit DVD looks very interesting to me…

  11. Has the combo of horrible weather, cabin fever, good cooking and chocolate put on some pounds? My jeans are tight as I write.

    • I used to work out quite regularly and then slowly, over the years, got in lazier habits. Horrible weather, cabin fever, cooking and chocolate all played a part, I’m sure! I don’t own a scale so it is easy to ignore the signals (loss of muscle tone, tighter fitting clothing, etc.) I know where I’d like to be and am feeling pretty good about doing something about it! Starting was the hardest part…

  12. Is that a self portrait of you? It’s a great shot. I am really into exercising now. It takes a while to get back into the swing of things but once you do, it really gets addictive

    • Yeah, that’s me. πŸ™‚ Which is what made this shot so tricky to take! I had to set up the camera, trigger the self-timer for multiple shots, then run over, hop onto the machine and see what resulted! This process was repeated many, many, many times over until I got something that worked. So glad you liked it – thanks!

Thanks, also, for the encouragement! I am very familiar with the ‘addiction’ to exercise. In my younger days, I had a stint where I was at the gym 4 hours a day. That was insane!

  13. Does it count to say “I’ve never quit exercising”, when you take in to account that I’ve never actually started ???… Surely it’s a valid statement eh !?!?… πŸ˜‰

    • lol

      Valid? Yes.

Something you want to admit in public? Uh, no. πŸ˜‰
